Pantomime Day - 16th June 2017
We are sure that you will agree that there were many wonderful and creative outfits on show as the children and staff arrived at school last Friday for our Pantomime Day. We enjoyed a picnic lunch followed by a whole school Alice in Wonderland pantomime courtesy of the talented staff from M&M productions.

Lord Mayor's Civic Service - 13th May

Last Saturday a group of children from Years 3-6 performed at the Lord Mayor's annual Civic Service. We were honoured to be invited along to celebrate the end of his term in office. The children sang beautifully to the guests in the Cathedral and as always the behaviour of our children was exceptional. What a fantastic  opportunity for the children of St Luke's. Well done and thank you to all who attended this special event.

Year 6 SATs week - 8th May onwards

We are proud as punch, and in awe of how hard our amazing Year 6 children have worked in their SAT’s exams last week.
The tests will assess how much they know and have learnt here at St Luke’s. We all know here at school that the answers the children provide on paper are a fraction of all their achievements!

They have developed all manner of skills that can't be assessed by any test. They are artists, runners, footballers, comedians, communicators, thinkers, carers, historians, designers.... the list goes on. But most importantly they are amazing, happy, confident, kind young people who are just fantastic to be around and will go on to become amazing, happy, confident, kind adults!

To all of our Year 6 children please know that you are super, successful and much loved people whatever your results!

Year 6 SATs week commencing 8th May
Our Year 6 children will be treated to a sustaining breakfast each morning of the tests; the photographs below show them enjoying it on the first day.
Easter Egg Competition - April 2017
Please take a look at some of the fantastic and imaginative entries to this year's Easter Egg Competition. Well done and thank you to all those that took part.

National League Trust Under 11s Tournament

Last term 8 children drawn from Years  5 and 6 travelled down to Lincoln to compete  in the semi –finals of the National League under 11’s tournament. The team put in an excellent performance beating 7 regional teams to make it through to the final on the day. Unfortunately they lost their game against Gateshead in the final.
Following the tournament we were delighted to receive a phone call from one of the referees from the competition to say how impressed he had been by our children. He commended their performance and impeccable behaviour.
Well done to all, we could not be prouder of the sportsmanship and teamwork shown by our players.

Our children had a surprise visit from the Easter Bunny on the last day of last term whilst they were in celebration assembly. Lots of lovely sweets were left for them all!
Well done to our Year 5 netball team who last term won the Bradford East 1 partnership netball event. Excellent teamwork and sportsmanship, Well done!

Music Concert - March 2017
Some of our pupils have been learning to play a musical instrument as part of a joint initiative of the Fagley cluster of schools and Bradford Music Service. The culmination was a joint concert with all four schools held last night (20th March). The children performed the music they have been learning in their music lessons. They were fantastic!

National League Trust Under 11s Tournament

Some of the players from our Under 11s winning team attended the Bradford Park Avenue match against Gloucester City on Saturday 4th March. The children came on with the teams as mascots and were officially presented with their trophy at half time. The team's next fixture will be on Wednesday 29th March when they travel down to Lincoln. Good luck!

Highly Commended

Whilst Mrs Namvar did not win the Newcomer of the Year award at last night's (9th March) T&A Schools Awards ceremony, she did receive a 'highly commended' trophy. This in itself is a real achievement and everyone in school is very proud of her success.

Newcomer of the Year Nomination 2017

Good luck to Year 2 teacher, Mrs Namvar, who has been shortlisted for the Newcomer of the Year award at tonight's (9th March) Telegraph & Argus Schools Awards ceremony.

Bradford East Gymnastics Competition - February 2017
A group of 8 children from Year 3 took part in the Bradford East Gymnastics competition on Wednesday 15th February. They worked together to produce a skillful routine to the theme tune from the film ‘Rocky’. The judges were really impressed with how they worked together as a team and awarded them the ‘Sportsmanship’ award. Well done to you all, we are very proud of you!

Jack and the Beanstalk - January 2017
We enjoyed a fabulous afternoon on Tuesday 24th January when the Jack in the Beanstalk pantomime came to school; it was very funny. We were allowed to come dressed as our favourite traditional tales or book character for the day. Afterwards we all wrote about the story and some of our work is now on display

Jack and the Beanstalk - January 2017
We are delighted to be supporting the NSPCC by taking part in their Number Day this Friday, 3 February 2017. By raising money, we can help to fund their vital services like Childline – the helpline that’s always there for children and young people whatever their problem or concern.
We will be taking part in Dress up for Digits so children can come to school wearing an item of clothing with a number on it (football shirt, cap, netball shirt or even a onesie!). All that we ask for is  a suggested donation of £1, and we’d love everyone in the school to take part in this special event.) Alternatively if your child does not wish to dress up then they may pay £1 to come to school in non-uniform.
We’re looking forward to all the fun of Number Day, and we really appreciate your support. All the money we raise at St Luke’s will make an enormous difference to children today and help change the lives of children tomorrow.

Young Voices - January 2017
On Thursday 12th January some children from years 4, 5 and 6 attended Sheffield arena to sing amongst the 5230 other children who were part of the Young Voices choir. The children sang many different songs, some together with celebrities such as singer-songwriter, Natalie Williams, one of the UK's most endearing and popular soul/jazz artists, as well as Tabby O'Callaghan who reached the final three on X-Factor in 2004. The children also joined in with some beat-boxing performed by award winning 'The Beatbox Collective'. The children enjoyed every minute! A huge well done to all children involved for your super dedication and effort to learning so many different songs.
You certainly did St Luke's proud!

Eccleshill Christmas Lights Switch-On - 4th December 2016

Our choir were invited to sing at the annual switch-on of the Eccleshill Christmas lights. The Lord Mayor was so impressed that he tweeted about us! Well done to all concerned.

We had a special delivery this morning consisting of an advent box for each class. The boxes contain a new book for each day leading up to Christmas that the children will open and read.
